I discovered in 1996, during the last year of Hispanic Philology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, how fascinating it could be to dedicate myself to teaching my mother language and the culture in which I grew up to people from all over the world. I decided to prepare myself at the highest level: first studying a postgraduate degree and then a master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. And, from that moment, I have been enjoying the experience of my students being able to communicate in Spanish from the first day of class, building together a new way of understanding the world and relating to it.
I believe that every Spanish teacher should have three essential traits: professionalism, creativity and enthusiasm.
Professionalism is based on rigor and is achieved with constant training, attending conferences and participating in educational projects. Creativity understood as flexibility, adaptability, as an initiative to create, review and update materials. And enthusiasm as an essential ingredient to enjoy the magic that is created in the classroom, to infect students with the desire to teach, learn and share the adventure of feeling and living in Spanish.
And with this personal touch, Marta Mas Languages was born, a project with the high quality standards that continuous training grants, the criteria provided by more than 20 years of experience teaching Spanish in prestigious institutions, and the excitement of sharing everyday everything learned with each one of my students.
